“Running Feral" original painting by Kasey Wanford
Running Feral was a joy to make because I didn’t concern myself with my usual artistic rules (like a limited color palette) while making it, I just let whatever felt right happen. The result is an expression of joy and color and I view it as an expression of my inner child running free.
Running Feral is an original painting. It’s a mixed media piece of acrylic paints, alcohol inks and collaged paper scraps on a yupo paper surface, then securely mounted on a 3/4" deep cradled wood panel to make it ready to hang unframed, or you have the option of purchasing it with a thin float frame.
More about yupo:
Yupo paper is a synthetic substrate made of 100% polypropylene. It is non-absorbent, so water media paints like fluid acrylics spread on the surface in interesting ways before they dry. I enjoy working on yupo! Once the underlayer is dry, I use acrylic markers and heavier body acrylic paints to form a composition that responds to the pathways made by the fluid paints.
