Well Wishes is an original painting created by Kasey Wanford in 2025.
In a world where we are constantly bombarded by negativity and distressing headlines, Well Wishes emerges as a visual response rooted in hope. This artwork serves as a "good news talisman," channeling a desire to restore optimism and positivity to our daily lives.
The creative process began with a meditative intention: to combat societal anxieties and heaviness with uplifting energy and heartfelt wishes for positive transformation. The journey started with a base layer of alcohol inks, which flowed and merged unpredictably, symbolizing the beauty and strength found in unity and collective hope.
A unifying layer of sky blue acrylic was then gently brushed across the surface, weaving together the organic, life-affirming forms that emerged from the initial ink. This touch of blue evokes a sense of calm, openness, and boundless possibility, further enhancing the painting's uplifting spirit.
Measuring 26x20 inches, Well Wishes is crafted using a harmonious blend of layered alcohol inks and acrylic paint on yupo paper. The artwork is unframed and will be shipped with utmost care—rolled in protective parchment paper and placed inside a sturdy mailing tube to ensure it arrives safely at its new home.

 

Yupo paper is a synthetic substrate made of 100% polypropylene. It is non-absorbent, so water media paints like fluid acrylics spread on the surface in interesting ways before they dry. I enjoy working on yupo! Once the underlayer is dry, I use acrylic markers and heavier body acrylic paints to form a composition that responds to the pathways made by the fluid paints.
